FLOPPY DISK is a visual homage to the early dig­i­tal era. The iconic floppy disk as a symbol of the begin­nings of data stor­age. Styl­ized in clear blue tones, this tech­ni­cal relic becomes a min­i­mal­ist memory object, caught between func­tion and nos­tal­gia. A design arti­fact of the past, reduced to pure form and color, rein­ter­pret­ing the aes­thet­ics of the 1980s and 1990s. The Floppy Disk that Meant the World.

More than 2 MB of stor­age-hard to fathom back then. The floppy disk passed care­ful­ly from hand to hand, kept safe and pro­tect­ed. Hand­ing some­one a disk always felt spe­cial and mys­te­ri­ous: What might be on it? Will it even open?

Disks held pro­grams you had to load first, and all your doc­u­ments-neatly labeled and stored in shock-resis­tant, sturdy, dust-pro­tect­ed file boxes within arm’s reach of the com­put­er. With the floppy, infor­ma­tion lived on a remov­able medium for the first time. That always came with a twinge of unease: if the disk failed, the data was gone. Thus the backup was born.
