ALPS
“ALPS” captures the majestic silhouette of a mountain range in reduced shades of blue. Multiple transparent layers overlap, creating an impression of depth, distance, and atmospheric density. The clear horizon line meets softly abstracted peaks whose forms float between reality and minimalism—a calm, powerful image of nature in its elemental essence. “ALPS” is part of the art series “Blue in a Square”, which includes 300+ artworks.
Blue Land.
There are recurring weather patterns and seasons when the view of the Alps appears like a modern, abstract painting. The vague, silhouetted sight feels unreal. Reduced in color, with contours only faintly visible. The air, the overcast sky, the light, the interplay of all elements, creates a view that has inspired artists. Me as well. Because it shows and proves how little it takes to express a great deal. You don’t need much; you only need the essence. That is enough for our imagination to recognize and understand everything. Nature’s spectacle shows us: how little it takes to make so much more visible.
I once described this as the state of seeing things like a child. When you open your eyes only slightly and there’s a bit too much tear fluid in them, and then you look at things, they appear as if seen through a child’s eyes. You see only what matters and you see it intensely and luminously. Sometimes I look at things exactly in this way to recognize how they truly are. Viewed emotionally.

Through the precise interplay of complex stencils, masks, lines, and many layers and shadows, shapes, depth, and spatial effects are built up—like a collage, but entirely digital.
