CHAMPION

“CHAMPION” is a minimalist homage to Germany’s historic victory at the 2024 Basketball World Championship. In deep blue, an abstracted basketball floats against a white background, its lines suggesting motion and energy. A subtle shadow enhances the lightness of the moment, a symbol of triumph, teamwork, and sporting excellence. A piece that captures the celebration in timeless, reduced form.“CHAMPION” is part of the art series “Blue in a Square”, which includes 300+ artworks.

Mentality Makes the Difference.

It is becoming increasingly clear that when everything becomes the same, when, at every level, everyone is just “cooking with water”, there is only one factor left that makes the difference between winning and losing. And that is collective mentality. In Germany we are currently experiencing a basketball miracle: world champion and European champion at the same time. You can observe this phenomenon in many areas. But sport makes it obvious. Although I am sure that this fact is playing an ever more central role in all areas.

When the factors that once differentiated disappear, ever less makes the decisive difference. I believe I have recognized that it is collective mentality. If a group of people is convinced that only as a group can it achieve something the individual could never accomplish alone, then entirely different results are possible, entirely different procedures, processes, workflows, techniques, and strategies.

Society can learn a lot from sport here. If you leave out everything that could separate the individual from a group, if you discover everything that a community can achieve much better and more together, then results become possible that were previously unthinkable.

A collective, constructive, communal, and creative mentality can even become European and world champion in a sport in which all the superstars are on the other side. Overcoming the negative, egoistic, and narcissistic ego for the sake of the community, the realization that together far more is possible than when I try to get something done on my own. That would be a solution.
