MONUMENT
“MONUMENT” arranges blue volumes into an endless mosaic of rising edges. Like stacked blocks, the forms fold into an optical architecture that pulses between light and shadow. Deep navy meets cool greys; repetition creates rhythm, stability, and subtle motion. The work honors the gravity of simplicity: geometry as a blueprint for memory, space, and time—a monument of calm that structures walls and gathers the gaze. “MONUMENT” is part of the art series “Blue in a Square”, which includes 300+ artworks.
It Piles Up.
The monument. It builds itself up. Higher and higher. Wider and wider. Bigger and bigger. It becomes a monument through its dimensions, which shatter everything imaginable and familiar. Success is based on similar aspects: ever more, ever higher, ever farther, ever greater. Until success appears monumental.
Yet the monument has something immovable, something oppressive. It casts everything into shadow. There they are again—the two sides of a thing. The desire for something monumental is at the same time the desire for something that must be oppressive. Something that you can no longer get rid of. That takes complete possession of you.
My admiration for these dimensions used to be constant. But over time I recognized the flip side. And my admiration decreased step by step until it disappeared completely. Much that enjoys great admiration appears to me merely oppressive. Over time, my admiration grew for the small, the flexible, the variable, the mobile, and the unapproachable systems and things. It is not size that earns my admiration, but passion, connection, devotion, and fulfillment.
The artwork “Monument” shows the two sides: the fascination with the magnitude of something—and, at the same time, the oppressive aspect. The artwork “Monument” can be purchased online only via my website, exclusively and directly from me. Simply fill out the online form or send me an email. I very much appreciate the interest and the direct contact between artist and art lover. For admiration on both sides is directed toward the same thing: art.
Keynography Art
Keynography Art is a new digital art form founded by Christof Hintze, with no AI being used or applied, created in Apple Keynote—originally a presentation program. Through the precise interplay of complex stencils, masks, lines, and many layers and shadows, shapes, depth, and spatial effects are built up—like a collage, but entirely digital. The result feels like a graphic relief: clean, detailed, and surprisingly three-dimensional, even though it is made from simple Keynote elements. More about it in my bio…
