Things You Never Forget.
Edward Hopper’s “The Long Leg” is one of those works for me. It ignites a longing in me of unimaginable scope: a sense of freedom and self-determination in harmony with nature. The lighthouse as a guide, life by the sea, a distant continent—all of this and more is set in motion every time I think of the painting or see it. That’s why it holds a special place at the center of my life, radiating lightness, hope, confidence, and optimism.
I’m also deeply moved by its painterly quality, technique, and craftsmanship. This is why it has a permanent place in my personal culture of positive memory. What “Here Comes the Sun” is to the Beatles and the music world, this painting is to art.
