INTERLOCKING

“INTERLOCKING” Gently curved shapes in varying shades of blue flow into one another, forming a harmonious weave of lines and surfaces. The organic contours evoke currents, smoke, or intertwined ribbons that seem to embrace and support each other. The interplay of light and dark creates depth and movement, while the forms appear both independent and inseparably connected—a visual metaphor for the “INTERLOCKING” of elements into a balanced whole. “INTERLOCKING” is part of the art series “Blue in a Square”, which includes 300+ artworks.

The interplay of the individual.

The 1980s were the era of egos. In every field, strong to downright sick egos were the stars. The one person who manages everything, masters everything, gets everything under control and takes all the fame and all the money. Public perception was defined solely by these special personalities. Although this “special” already seemed to me back then and increasingly so, more like conspicuous behaviour. Everyone had to be a winner. To assert themselves. To be superior. Everywhere. We still feel the negative consequences of this phase today. Even though it has long since been proven that a team, a squad, the interaction, the interplay of a group can achieve far greater goals together than an individual ever could. The mentality of productive, constructive, and creative collaboration has raised many things to a significantly higher level. It unleashes abilities and qualities, creates opportunities and chances that were completely unknown before.
And yet there is still this longing for these narcissists and egomaniacs, even though they are demonstrably inferior to the collective. But it was simpler – and everything that is simpler appeals more to people. The artwork “Ineinandergreifen” shows that you can remain an individual within the collective, while the interplay can represent something much greater.
