REFLECTIONS
“REFLECTIONS” Like fleeting points of light dancing on water, the circles in “Reflections” move across the surface. Vertical stripes run through them, blending light and shadow. The gradations from deep blue to soft white create a sense of depth, motion, and a gentle pulse. Shapes blur, emerge, and fade again, like memories surfacing in the mind before dissolving into infinity. “REFLECTIONS”is part of the art series “Blue in a Square”, which includes 300+ artworks.
The dancing light on the surface of the water.
When water refracts light, or when light hits water, these highly graphic ornaments appear. You can also see them when your eyes are very moist and you squint through only slightly opened eyes. Here too, light and water play their game. If you remove everything that is water, what remains are the ornaments – these graphic, aesthetic and very rhythmic structures that seem to dance on the surface. This is the phenomenon I wanted to capture with this artwork, because it shows in a very special way how nature creates a form of art right before our eyes, if we look closely. These are memories from my childhood and youth, in which I discovered this spectacle with deep fascination. Even today, I still look out for it.

Through the precise interplay of complex stencils, masks, lines, and many layers and shadows, shapes, depth, and spatial effects are built up—like a collage, but entirely digital.
