TRACK

The artwork “TRACK” turns motion into geometry. Parallel lanes in layered blues run side by side, bend in broad arcs, and return as a sweeping U‑shape. Varying line weights create a pulsing rhythm—at once racetrack, wayfinding, and a route of memory. Between precision and poetry, “TRACK” condenses the idea of being en route: speed and stillness, repetition and progress, origin and destination converge within one lucid, continuous form. “TRACK” is part of the art series “Blue in a Square”, which includes 300+ artworks.

Hairpin bends and the emerging feeling of being a racing driver.

The artwork “Strecke” is inspired by the feeling of life and the associated freedom and independence of someone who owned their own car at 18. Never again would that feeling be quite the same. With a driving licence and a first car, a world of independence opened up that seemed almost boundless. You had the freedom, at least in theory, to travel to any place in the world you could reach by car.

Just this feeling, that you could, if you wanted to, was incredible. And with the entry into the world of drivers, the boundaries to feeling like a racing driver also began to blur. The risk of speed had a very special appeal, one that led to countless harmless, and unfortunately many tragic, outcomes. But with this feeling of freedom, loud music in your ears and a cigarette in your mouth, you no longer felt as if you quite belonged to this world. A very special kind of positive memory, and I still thank the god of curves to this day that I got off lightly. That does not mean that I was or am a good driver, but simply that I was lucky.
