MEDUSA
The artwork “MEDUSA” depicts a floating jellyfish in minimalist form, its body rendered in deep shades of blue while delicate, almost dancing tentacles extend gracefully across the surface. Fine lines and translucent layers evoke lightness and movement, as if in the weightless rhythm of the ocean. “MEDUSA” is a tribute to the beauty and fragility of marine life, inviting contemplation of the mysterious interplay between nature, elegance, and fluid form. MEDUSA is part of the art series “Blue in a Square”, which includes 300+ artworks.
Fascination with Evolution.
Dive into the world’s deep time and you encounter endlessly many fascinating facets. With every answer, new questions arise. By the end of human history, will all questions be solved, or will we carry many of them into the beyond? The jellyfish is among the oldest creatures on Earth. It has adapted perfectly to changing conditions: it needs no air to breathe, has no bones, is made almost entirely of water, has no brain and no eyes and has been drifting through the world’s oceans for roughly 500 million years.
Consider how much humans require to live and survive, what we claim for ourselves, the complex problems we create, and the problems we face. In its aesthetics and rhythmic movements, the jellyfish is a true natural wonder. It survives with nothing-nothing at all. And humankind, with all its “everything,” has existed for only about 300,000 years. Does a jellyfish have feelings? Sorrow? Heartache? Does it miss anything? Does it long for things? What goes on inside it? Does it feel the sun? Fear the dark? Take joy in a current? When I observe a jellyfish in its natural habitat, I’m captivated. It stands for survival—no matter what. It was here long before us and will remain long after us.
