SPACE
“SPACE” arranges interlocking, triangular frames into a floating blue lattice. Isometric edges, shadows, and light create depth, as if slender beams fold through space. Precise negative shapes open between the elements, calm islands within a constructive rhythm. The piece balances structure and lightness, mathematics and poetry. A quiet architectural echo: modular, clear, weightless, a space that reshapes itself with each gaze. “SPACE” is part of the art series “Blue in a Square”, which includes 300+ artworks.
Objective Harmony and Right Angles.
If you place objects in a harmonious relation to one another, they appear supernatural. Which reinforces the assumption that disorder is more natural than order. If you look at a forest or a reef, if you look into the mountains, there are two things you won’t find, right angles and order. Throughout nature you can search for a long time. You won’t find them. Nature’s system is arbitrary, random, and oriented by other parameters.
That would explain where our fascination with right angles and order comes from. Because only we can create and produce them. As soon as right angles and order appear, either humans are at work or some higher power. We love to place things in a harmonious context because it strengthens the feeling of harmony within us.
In a world that is so loud and chaotic, right angles and order have a harmonious effect on us. The artwork “Space” illustrates this convincingly. Although the forms are abstract and purely random, we perceive in them something supernatural that we experience as beautiful, relaxing, interesting, and harmonious. These qualities are expressed particularly strongly in the Op Art movement.
Since the Op Art movement enjoyed great popularity especially in the 1970s and ’80s, I am shaped by it as well. I notice in advertising, in products, in architecture, and in art when this phenomenon is used. What makes great graphic design so great is precisely this magic of harmony and order that draws our attention in a positive way.
The artwork “Space” can be ordered online only. Simply fill out the online form with your preferences or send them to me by email.
